Other Alfas
Re: Other Alfas
Arnold Chatz seemed to have the gift with what he prepared and drove. He was very good in the Volvo 122S and was always quicker than our CT Droomers car of Steve Botes, but when he hit Alfas, nothing could catch him.

Fantastic images, note that some cars have two discs on their windscreens porbably a licence and 3rd Party disc we used to have to carry on our cars those days. Interior morrors. Fine trimmings all there. And this was the modified class too.
Re: Other Alfas
That's the way they were!
Re: Other Alfas
So where's this whole argument going today debates about legalising full on hotrodded cars ? Just shows how off track the wallet can steer matters .....
Re: Other Alfas
Nice picture of the Superformance trying to catch the Gough Escort (in vain as usual!) This must have been 1970.

Re: Other Alfas
I had a girlfiend once who had a 3.0 GTV - one of the nicest cars I have ever driven.
Only problem it had the most brilliant sounding motor that begged to be revved and revved - hitting red line in third gear in town is not good Going for red line in fourth is even worse

A pal of mine, Jon Lederle, the nephew of ex-SA F1 champion, Neville Lederle, also had one of those GTV 6's and said he loved the car.
It seemed the era of those cars on the track was very short lived. Arnold Chatz had an incredibly quite one and the others followed, like Mike Formato and I think Abel D'Oliviera. Pity we can't see something as fast as those in today's historic cars.
