You are right! However the current shop is just down the road (Less Petrol) He knew what is required plus all my sketches. Hopefully completed on Monday!

WRONG!! The steel is not too hard!! The real issue is that the machinist was unable to clamp the shaft! He tried to clamp the ball section and not the shaft. Had he clamped the shaft, the thread and taper must be cut in reverse gear? I don't know! I do know that clamping the shaft is the only option!! Donovan are you on line! The taper is from 16mm down to 14mm = 1mm cut!
