Re: Capri Perana parts wanted
Another thing I forgot to ask for is a set of safety belts - two belts with their auto winders and the press-in buckle cables mounted in centre area. Thanks

Re: Capri Perana parts wanted
Seat belts are 'interesting'.
Standard belts on early cars were lap straps only. And no centre stalk, just two pieces of webbing. Requires two hands to do up the buckle.
You cannot make inertia belts work in a 2 point lap configuration. You need three points. Early shells don't have a upper seat belt mounting point on the B post. But they do have an upper mount just behind the front seat. Remove rear side trim panel to find it.
I made inertia belts work in my car by using this point. The belt has to rise up and over your shoulder, which is not ideal in a crash, but still a lot better than a two point belt. It is a bit of a pain to grab the belt when you put it on, but you soon learn cross your chest with your left hand and to reach back into the right place. I uses solid stalks in the centre so one handed click operation is possible.
The belts in my car came from a small Peugeot, 206 I think. Almost any modern belt set will work. Just make sure the stalk is the right length, and that the belt is not too long. The Capri is a small car. Too long a belt will overfill the inertia reel when retracted.
Later shells do have a upper mount on the B post. Better, and simpler. Again, original three point belts were just webbing, two handed operation, no inertia reel, no stalk. Again, conversion to inertia reel belts is simple.

Re: Capri Perana parts wanted
Rightly as you say John, the early models only had waist belts as do my Can-Am. However, this Capri was fitted with a mounting point on the upper part of the B-post so I will go this route which in any case is better.
I was given a few different type of belts with the car but they all seem to be crappy with different fittings, sizes etc. For the purpose of driving the car down from Jo'burg via Harrismith, Tweeling, Bloemfontein and then down to Cape Town, I had to make a "special" jobbie of driving the car legally or at least to look legal.........many boete bessies out there
Got away with it luckily as the "speedcops" were more interested in the car than the safety aspects

Did you buy BG198?V8 fan wrote:Another thing to point out is that car is now fitted with WILLWOOD disc brakes all-round - very good quality and a BIG improvement on the standard set-up.....
Here's a photo of the rear disc and rim/tyre - photo not so clear though

Hi Ahmed
Sure thing mate - if they can fit and the price is right, I'd definitely be interested.
Please drop me a PM if you hear anything.
As I said in one of my earlier posts, I'll need to just double-check the PCD and offset when I get home in December.

Re: Capri Perana parts wanted
I meanwhile got some of the parts I was looking for from the UK. Floris (KSF) also donated some odds and ends, speedo with insert, windows, reverse lights etc. Many thanks!
Rassie also sorted me out with a set of FORD lettering to go on the bonnet.
I also fabricated the correct raised connector to go on the clutch master for when I fit this back onto car. I was also lucky enough to get hold of a replica PERANA steering wheel.
