I guess this is the correct place for "old school" tricks
"If you park your car, walk away and don't look back, you're driving the wrong car"

Kadett is up and running! :D Starts with first turn of the ignition
To what revs should I limit the engine to ensure that the camshaft settles in nicely :?:
Will warm up the car tomorrow and complete the torque sequence ;)
Then another 1000km for the final torque.
Sons can't believe the "Old Man" was able to get the engine running again 8O
It is handy when you worked with hands on the floor and gained technical/Engineering Theory!

When I rebuild an engine with a new camshaft, I like to "run in" (the Americans call it breaking in) the new cam by running the engine at a constant 2000 rpm for 20 minutes directly after first start.

Thanks Johann, :D I ran the engine at 1500 Rpm, Took it up to Running temp for about 15 min. Will take it up to temp again today and torque it. I also believe in "Running it in" :D I was very conservative as I did not know how fast! 8O Engine is running very smooth :D :D

Thanks to all for the valuable info :D :D It appears that the cam has settled nicely  Had a bit of a timing miss  Set the points to 0.4mm (.016") no miss and revs easily!! :D  Now I have learnt a lot of the OHC Opels   Not too difficult to work on :D :D
