Hi Johann
Looks very similar to the Elcamino balljoint.
Have you checked with Wayne Mckenzie?

I will keep him in mind! Having the re-conditioned ball joint fitted for the time being! Very tight fit still movable!

The recon ball Joint is working well and control is much better!
The El Camino is very similar but larger! Would have been no problem!

Attached is a technical drawing of the required ball joint, I need two. Please let me know if you can assist. I can import but the cost is huge!

The Commodore/Rekord ball joint fits! Shaft is 31mm too long. All it requires is a spacer! The costly option is to machine it down! Made my own spacers! Paid R240 for two new ball joints! Very happy man!

Interesting because it shows the degree of commonality on cars that are separate by over a decade....
Alfa GTV 3.0
Ford Capri Perana V8
Chevy Lumina Supercharged
Wait not for tomorrow to do what can be done today, live each day for one knows not what the next day may hold.

I checked the ball joint yesterday and found that I will have to shorten the rod! Not enough free space. I will go look for an engineering firm to do the machining for me! I have some friends in the business! The rest of the ball joint is exactly to the original specs!!

Is there nobody that is capable of doing the machining?
The tensile strength of the shaft; is it machinable?
What is required is:
Reduce upper taper from 16mm to 14mm
Machine 12mm x 1.5 thread or 14mm x 1.5 thread!
I have cast the inner of the ball joint but is wary of strength!

Found a local engineering firm that is going to do the required machining! He will fit the job in by about Friday!! Will show when complete!!
