LOXTON

I have a little garage for a small old car at our house in Loxton in the karoo. This vehicle will

be kept in Loxton and only used when we visit there.

I wanted to buy an Escort but I am not so sure anymore that that is my cup of tea. Overpriced the problem. And

all of them need restoration,in some form.I cannot do restoration myself.

What else? Another factor is maintenance. If something brakes, spare parts will have to be readily

available.I do not want to import spares.

I like Cortinas, but it became scarce.Same with Anglia. Actually I do not need to buy something that is in demand.I do

not care to drive around Loxton in an unpopular old car--as long as it is small, very neat,

needs no restoring, except for a good polish and elbow grease to clean something. For me it is the nostalgic

and touring the dirt roads in that unsophisticated but honest and sometimes dusty town.

What about a Corona with 1900 engine, the old MK2---are parts readibly available? One is advertised

on Gumtree in the Cape in apparently very original condition---R26,500--is that a fair price ?

What about a Datsun 1200. A Datsun 160 U ? Old Kadett?

Any suggestions?

As soon as my 1964 Chev C10 V8 is finally completed it will join the small car in Loxton.

I had a 68 Kadette and loved it! Parts wise, do not go older than 1980  Even the 70's have become scarce!!
