XR6 had a V6.
the interceptor XR6 had the interceptor motor.

Andre stander used his wits to rob the bank, the cortina was purely his get away car.

FWIW,

This "Interceptor" engine story that keeps going round is a bit misleading. The Cortina XR6 Interceptor engine was indentical to the one used in the normal XR6 and actually also the exact same engine you would find in a 3.0 GLS, Granada or in fact the Cortina 3000L and Leisure bakkies.

What was changed for the Interceptor cars (and got homologated) was set of exhaust branch manifolds and the set of 42DCNF Webers. The only internal change on the engine was a sligthly different grind of camshaft. It was not a hot cam or from a recognized tuning house, but in fact one of Ford SA's own cam grinds from a previous model.

That said, this engine with carbs is probably still a good deal provided the carbs are in good condition and complete. Parts for them are scarce and expensive and they did have a couple areas that did not like the treatment they got from some mechanics.

Bwhahahaha ... reminds me of some people advertising
common Ranchero / fairlane / falcon spares as " FAIRMONT GT " parts ,
to coin on the legendary name !
