I seem to recall the same thing...speak under correction though!

The Sierras were not numbered with tag plates like the Sapphires
However on passengers side, the cover plate under the seat belt mechanism will have a paper label with possibly the " Number Of..."
Also in the boot, there s a carpeted cover that hides the jack and wheel spanner, theres another label there as well with the production date, batch etc...
