Fairmont XW straight 6

Post by SA351GT » Sun 16 Nov 2008, 16:13

XW Fairmont 3.6 litre 6 cylinder. Complete car with papers/current license. Starts and runs. Just serviced. Brakes are in need of attention though - when we took off the front left wheel, the complete caliper, disc pad etc was missing 8O .

The car is from North West Province and although has lots of dents and scratches, is very original (original paint, interior and engine - all in need of TLC). The car is 99% rust free and undercarriage, floorpan, doors, sills, roof are all clean. The parts that needs repairing are the bottom of the rear fenders (which have had new metal riveted on), and the bottom of the rear windscreen - below the moulding.

I would like to swap it for a Capri V6 in similar condition. (or R14000)

I've held this car for the person who wanted it for a full month and can keep it no longer - no hard feelings

It is for sale again and will go to the first reasonable cash offer.

Bummer:

1966-69 Ford Falcons (same body style) are thin on the ground here in the USA------------hell, I could even live with the RHD

As you stated.

Bummer because I almost bought a 1969 Falcon 4 door here in Arizona for $350 US.

The body was OK (no rust) and had factory in-dash air conditioning, PS and AT but did not run. Admittedly; it was only a 200 Six with 4 lug wheels and 9" drum brakes (discs were not an option on USA Falcons although easy to convert). Needless to say: had the car been a 302 V8 vehicle I would have grabbed it for the price listed. :(

I am glad :)

Even if parted out (which I doubt); much of that 200 Six powered Fairmont (Falcon here in the USA) will live on.
