Have you taken the earth strap from the battery directly to the engine or gone via the chassis?

Don't see in your details where you are located, so nobody knows where you are so that we can perhaps assist.

I still check the forum at least twice a day, but it is sign of the times. We are lucky enough to have kept the workshop reasonably busy, but our flywheel and brake skimming section is still going flat out. The guys are fixing their cars themselves but still require skimming. I sold my '39 Ford but ...
