Re: What should I build ?

Stroke the cleveland using Chevy parts, best of both. :o Ford pistons, Chevy rods and machined crank, will get you a 377 with Std bore or 383 with oversize. That might make for a nice build there. Too; a 400 Cleveland is a 351M (same bore centers/heads as a 351C) with a longer stroke, the bore and ...

Re: Ford motors vs Chevy's : whats wrong with you lot ?

brennan67: pretty much any genuine hotrodder respects the Flathead Ford V8.

In fact; that basic motor saw service for some French military applications as late as 1991............not too shabby a 60 year production of the same design.

A stock Chrysler 383 over a stock Ford 351

Mopar or no Car
318 Mopar's a hell of a good motor although it seems the newer Ford 302's are quite decent along with the Chevy 350's with TBI...........

Re: Ford motors vs Chevy's : whats wrong with you lot ?

I agree with most of your sentiments Brennan. If it were up to me I’ll have a Ford powered Ford, and Chevy powered Chevy. But my 2c is that there are reasons besides cost, for building certain Chevy powered Hot Rods. Early Hot Rodders favoured the Flathead Ford V8’s, but then a fully built up Flath...

What's weird is our USA market Nissan Pathfinder (same platform as the Frontier/Navara) does have a V8 option, it's the 5.6L motor from the 2004+ Nissan Titan.

Re: What should I build ?

How much difference in cost would there be between re-building a 350 Chevy small block, 351 Ford Windsor and 351 Cleveland engine ? And in the case of stroking those engines. For instance to 408 ci ? Pieter. Let me chime in here. In the USA or Canada; doing up a SB Chevy is the cheapest route, in R...

Nothing wrong with pushrod technology or; for that matter, 2 valve heads. If anything; I don't think overhead cams have a place on any V series engine, inline fours/sixes, I'm the opposite.

OK, it seems in 1966, only the Caprice was available as a hardtop with the "formal" roof. http://www.automobile-catalog.com/make/chevrolet_usa/full-size_chevrolet_7gen/full-size_caprice_1gen_hardtop_coupe/1966.html https://www.mecum.com/lot-detail/FL0112-120252/0/1966-Chevrolet-Caprice/Automatic/ h...
