Re: Stock or custom and why?

Cars like the Perana, Can-am, XR6 Intercepter, XR8, Superboss, 333i, 325iS, 745, 131 Racing 3.0GTV and a whole lot of others have a special place in SA motorsport history. They were built to be the baddest and fastest that they can be with the given tech that was available to them at that stage. Why...

Re: Stock or custom and why?

I still haven't had one good reason as to why you are all so against modding cars... I understand that a factory original car has value but why would all of you think that a factory spec restoration is better than a custom one. Why would anyone want a car with 1970 technology if you can improve on ...

Re: Stock or custom and why?

If the Capri or Can-am is true and stock leave it as it is. By chopping and changing stuff you will ruin a great car. If you want to built something the way you want it then by all means start with a normal 1.6/2.0 Capri or Firenza 2 door shell. There are far too few original cars left to canabilise...

Re: What is on your Christmas wishlist?

Fellow member Sidedraught had the 3.7 kit in his 156GTA. Had no issues. Later he returned the car to original spec before he sold the car. In 3.7 spec it is a firsty beast. I think the reliability depends more on how the car is used/abused.

Re: What is on your Christmas wishlist?

A couple of things for my Alfa Sprint 1: Dean vd Walt to sort out the metalwork 2: new interior from Elvezio.com in Italy. OE supplier when the car were new. 3: 106 Giulietta block with the correct conrods and pistons to match the car’s Veloce spec 4: all chromework to be redone. Not much actually. ...

Re: 185X14 TYRES REPLACEMENT

Some tyres are difficult to get. My car should have 185/70/13 on. Cannot find it any more. I will been 155/15 (165/15 - the biggest I would consider) oneday for the Alfa. Dont know where they will come from. Would be awesome if the car could be fitted with Michelin X tyres like back in the early 60’...

Re: Killarney Motorshow

Thanks. Nice to see the Alconi cars. Interesting to see the R10 with the cyrved bumpers. SA cars had the square bumper and the Rodesian cars had the curved bumpers. Poor Renault Floride. Caravelle roof and engine cover on Floride body. Wrong seats and steering wheel. Would not like to know what is g...
