Hey M.S. Was your v6 sapphire silver/gray back in the day? I remember a very quick ghia that used to terrorise the streets back then.

Re: Help needed with cooling system pipes

There should be a heater hose fitting on top of your intake manifold.Pull off the pipe and then fill the bottle. You probably have an airlock that wont allow the coolant into the engine.

Re: Help needed with cooling system pipes

Btw that top pipe to the bottle is not an overflow but an integral part of your cooling system. There should be constant water flow through it while the engine is running. If not, then you have a problem.

Re: Help needed with cooling system pipes

I fitted a tee in the lower main hose and routed it to the bottle. That way your waterpump draws coolant from the bottle and pumps it back via the tee you already have in your upper hose.My xr8 runs for eight laps at full throttle with no cooling issues.
Hope this helps.
Cheers

Re: 1967 ford fairlane custom 500. 347 stroker motor

That is definitely not a blowing exhaust manifold. My 347 had a similar noise plus the oil consumption and this is what we found after stripping it.They use hypereutectic pistons in most of these strokers and due to the ring end gaps being too small the piston crown breaks when the ring gaps close up...
