Re: GTV 3.0 help
Lucky guy Maverick. I used to race one back in the day - it was the ex-Chatz works Autodelta 2000 GTV with a Group One spec 3 litre v6 fitted by Oom Dawie - used to rev to 7300 in top down the old Welkom straight and of course sounded absolutely beautiful with headers and straight-thru race exhaust....

Re: 71 Chev SS
Like I've said before - Code 3 equals little or no chance of insuring it for a decent value - ever.
Plus as is being shown it has a huge effect on the real value and hence the realistic selling price.

Re: More Eleanor's
Hi Johan, Buckaroo does in a funny kind of way have something to do with the Karoo. Back in the day I raced off road for Honda - most of these were in the desert - my surname is Buck - Mike Egan of Thundersports fame also used to race and also to sponsor other riders on KTM 'S and Husqvarna's - he c...

Re: More Eleanor's
Hey Maverick, dream on.... in the real world Eleanors are based on fastbacks not the coupe you refer to. A decent fastback will cost $35 -40 k - that's R560 k before you start. Also in the real world shipping includes transport to a harbour which may be thousands of miles away and cost many thousand...

Re: Granada Perana coupe
Yes but as a "built up" or Code 3 its collectable value is gone plus I believe you can't insure it for a proper value if at all.

Re: '69 Chevy Nova
And of course every car for sale in the USA is sitting right next to a dock with a completely honest owner who was totally truthful about the condition and who is fully prepared to arrange for the dropping off of a container and to load the vehicle securely into it in the few hours they give you and...

Re: Escort Mk1 Race car
Len, that would be FVA, FVC, BDA Cosworth race engine. This is a YB which is the motor from the Cosworth Sierra turbo and 4wd Cosworth Escort turbo of which thousands were built so I would imagine the rebuild cost of those as a naturally aspirated engine to be a lot less.

Exactly - and most if not all the Chinese vehicles plus the Indian made VW Polo, Hyundai i10 and Ford Figo are the same - non-EEC compliant but sold here in the thousands. But its like hitting your head against a brick wall.

Re: LHD Issues The Facts
Bearhawke you just don't want to know. I have been engaged in a constant war with the NRCS ( the National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications) for the last 4 years. The whole thing is a joke. We no longer import new Mustangs or F150's because "SA does not recognise US safety standards" and it is...

Re: LHD Issues The Facts
Yes, Len, I am aware of those guys who claim they can get their car registered while it is still in LHD and no doubt they do - with some notes exchanging hands. The problem with that is, as it was put by a senior Road Traffic official, the car will always remain illegal - much like a stolen car so w...
